Be it trying to find out who owns a particular server or what link between me and the box is causing me connection issues. Over the years, I have relied heavily on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.samspade.org\">http:\/\/www.samspade.org<\/a> for all my IP related tools. It&#8217;s a great site, with all the tools I need to get all the information I&#8217;m looking for. The added benefit is that it&#8217;s not on <em>my<\/em> network, so the results provided give me an external view of the issue, as well as providing some level of anonymity.<\/p>\n<p>SamSpade has been overloaded recently; not sure what&#8217;s going on, but during some periods of time, the site is barely accessible. This has led me to look at some <em>alternative<\/em> for those times when Sam is down. That&#8217;s when I came across <a href=\"http:\/\/www.geektools.com\">http:\/\/www.geektools.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>At first glance, it doesn&#8217;t look like much, but they do provide two of the tools I use the most; WHOIS and Traceroute. But here&#8217;s where things are different. You are given the choice of running your Traceroute from over a hundred sites scattered across the globe.
