I would suggest you take a look at FreeNAS (www.freenas.org). Its free and comprehensive. I use it myself (since the last 3 months) and has been excellen but ofcourse I have never used NASLite (merely looked at the site though).

As you probably know, too, the BugMeNot extension [bugmenot.com] will help you out for sites like the Post and NYT, sending "dummy" free registration credentials across.

If you would have seen the ingredients, you would have walked away slowly like I did. If you think a Twinkie will last 25 years....

The Opera issue is news to me. I check the site out pretty thouroughly with Firefox, Mozilla and IE; I have a friend who's an Opera weenie and he hasn't expressed any issues. What version are you running?

Yea, I saw that a week ago. That's too bad... Guess I'll have to get the tools and/or write my own web-based ones...

Thansk for the heads-up!

More about Samspade
The Google cache of Samspade.org says this:

"System outages: SamSpade.org has been increasingly unreachable for the past couple of months. This has been due to several reasons - general network problems, blackholing of SamSpade.org by several RIRs and general heavy usage."

You can get their standalone tool for Windows here:

SamSpade Org Offline
I have not tried to contact SamSpade.org, but if their tools are useful for fending off spam (and I think that they are), this site could be under attack by spammers. Spammers have targeted sites that interfer with their activities. Please see spamhaus.org for more info about this.

Please update me of you find out any information. I miss the Samspade tools also. Currently I have been receiving lots of malicious e-mail with virus attachments. Samspade allowed me to contact the network administrators where these e-mails were eminating from.

Sincerely
sentry789@hotmail.com

samspade.org
If you are using the samspade website as often as you say, you should just go ahead and download their software program. It does need to be updated, but for most things there are no problems. Furthermore, it is much faster than using the website.
